Terms & Conditions

We want you to have a great experience learning to drive with Pass with Pearson. Therefore, it's important we keep our Ts and Cs straight forward and clear, so any driving lessons are subject to the following Ts and Cs.

Lesson Booking, Payment, Cancellations & No Shows

  • All payments for your first lesson (either at the standard hourly rate, or the 10 hour block) must be made upon booking to secure your slot. Until payment is made, the slots may be taken by other pupils.

  • All payments for your second and subsequent lessons must be made no later than 48 hours before your lesson time (unless you have agreed otherwise with your instructor).

  • Lessons cancelled with 48 hours notice or less are chargeable.

  • Please be punctual for your lessons. If no contact can be made with you, and your lesson start time is between 09:00 and 17:00, we will wait for up to 15 minutes before we leave, and no refund will be given. If your lesson start time is outside of these times, we will wait for up to 10 minutes. If you are late, the lesson will still finish at the appointed time and no partial refund will be given. If we are late, your lesson will run for the full time. We cannot be held responsible for being late for any unforeseen or unexpected reason (such as an accident or heavy traffic).

  • If you are booking lessons on behalf of someone else, please note that the instructor and Pass with Pearson cannot discuss any matters relating to the lessons (including attendance or progress) once the lessons are due to start without permission of the pupil.

  • Pass with Pearson and your instructor do not accept any responsibility for any lessons cancelled/postponed due to mechanical breakdown, instructor illness, driving tests or pre-booked holidays. In these situations, your instructor will carry your lesson credit over to your next lesson.

Road & Vehicle Safety

  • You must produce your driving licence when you meet your instructor for the first time and your driver number, and validity dates will be recorded. We also reserve the right to conduct a licence check with the DVLA. If you cannot produce an in-date licence on your first lesson, or it transpires that you do not hold a valid licence, it will not go ahead and you will be charged.

  • Your instructor reserves the right to withdraw their vehicle from a lesson or a driving test at any time (sadly, this includes just before your test) without notice if they deem there to be a safety concern. If it transpires that you are, or may be unfit to drive through drink or drugs (or any other substance that does, or could, impair your driving), your driving lesson/test will be terminated immediately, as will all future lessons, without refund.

  • You must be able to meet the minimum eyesight standards for driving (these can be found here). We will check this at the start of your first lesson with us. If you cannot meet this standard, unfortunately we will cancel your lesson and you will be charged.

  • If you are driving in a deliberately dangerous or malicious manner (whether on a lesson or test), whether damage to the tuition vehicle is caused or not, your instructor/examiner can reserve the right to terminate the lesson/test without refund. If an incident occurs whilst on your driving test that requires use of your instructor’s vehicle insurance policy, your instructor reserves the right to charge you the excess on this policy. This amount will vary between each instructor.

  • Your instructor will endeavour to prevent any driving offences whilst you’re driving, however if such an incident were to occur whilst you’re driving, your instructor will have to provide your details as the driver of the vehicle.

Block Bookings

  • Bookings for the ten hour block are refundable, however any lessons already taken will be charged at the normal hourly rate. For example, you take 5 hours, and want the remaining 5 hours refunded so this would be a refund of £185 (£385 - (5 x £40))

  • Bookings for the ten hour block must be fully used within 6 months of the date of payment. After this, the credit will expire.

Your Instructor

  • Treat our instructors with courtesy. Verbal or physical abuse towards our instructors will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to immediately terminate your current and future lessons with us if this occurs, with no refunds given.

  • Your instructor will be a self-employed independent instructor (apart from Joseph Pearson), with permission to use the Pass with Pearson branding. Pass with Pearson will pass your details onto one of these instructors, and any lessons or bookings made will be with them directly. Any payments made and refunds due will be made to/from your instructor. Any liability claims must be made to your instructor directly.

  • Access to Theory Test Pro will be given when your first lesson is confirmed. Your access to this system will be removed if you stop your lessons with us or when you pass your theory test.
